Frequently Asked Questions

What is this website?

This Fraud Alert Notification Service is a free service provided to you by the Brunswick County Register of Deeds Office. This program will notify you when a document has been recorded that matches a name you provided to the system. This free program will not prevent fraud but will allow you to find out about it quickly. This service does not give the Brunswick County Register of Deeds Office the authority to remove, revise, or redact the document that has been recorded. It is only to make you aware that a document has been recorded in the name or names you provided.

Please check your spam folder. The email should:

If you use GMail, there should be a button when you view the email in your spam folder that reads "Report not spam." Click that, and GMail should pop up a message saying that "future messages from this sender will be sent to Inbox."

How will this system notify me?

Early in the morning following every business day, this system will perform searches against the names recorded that day, and if any names match, an email will be sent out. If no results were found, you will not receive an email.

How should I enter names to most effectively return results?

First and foremost: Test your names against the search system, which you can access from here by clicking "Return to Search Site" in the top bar. Once you've entered, click "Combined Real Property." Try your name as both grantor and grantee, as the fraud alert system tracks both.

How many names can I list?

There is a limit of 4 names. If you need more, please create an account first, and add four names. Then, use the contact form, including in the message a list of the additional names you need along with whether each is human/nonhuman.
